Social and Economic Predictors of the Severe Mental Disorders (SEP-MD) Study

The Social and Economic Predictors of the Severe Mental Disorders Study (SEP-MD) is a comprehensive research initiative that links individual data from the 2011 UK Census with clinical records from the South London & Maudsley Trust and death registrations. The primary aim of SEP-MD is to investigate the relationship between social and economic factors at both the neighborhood and individual levels and their impact on mortality, in-patient admissions, and long-term worklessness among individuals with severe mental health conditions. Additionally, the study seeks to examine ethnic inequalities to better understand disparities in health outcomes. By integrating these diverse data sources, SEP-MD provides valuable insights into how socio-economic environments influence the health trajectories of individuals with severe mental disorders, potentially informing policy and intervention strategies to address these disparities.
