COVID Social Mobility & Opportunities (COSMO) Study

The COVID Social Mobility & Opportunities Study (COSMO) is a longitudinal cohort study designed to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on young people's socio-economic opportunities and life chances in England. It tracks over 13,000 individuals who were in Year 11 during the 2020-21 academic year. The study aims to provide robust evidence on how the pandemic has influenced socio-economic inequalities, focusing on both immediate effects on educational attainment and wellbeing, as well as longer-term outcomes related to education and career prospects. By analyzing these impacts, COSMO seeks to inform policy and interventions that can address the disparities exacerbated by the pandemic.
