Aetiology and Ethnicity in Schizophrenia and Other Psychoses (AESOP-10)

Aetiology and Ethnicity in Schizophrenia and Other Psychoses (AESOP-10)

The Aetiology and Ethnicity in Schizophrenia and Other Psychoses (AESOP-10) study is a longitudinal research project that follows up on a cohort of 535 individuals who were initially assessed during their first episode of psychosis. Conducted over a 10-year period, the study aims to identify factors that influence the progression and outcomes of psychosis. Key areas of focus include biological and social risk indicators, cannabis use, and the duration of untreated psychosis (DUP). A significant aspect of AESOP-10 is its examination of ethnic differences, particularly between Black and White patients, in the progression and outcomes of psychosis. The study seeks to understand how these factors contribute to the variability in psychosis outcomes across different ethnic groups, providing insights that could inform tailored interventions and improve long-term management of psychosis.
