ADVANCE: Armed Services Trauma Rehabilitation Outcome Study

The Armed Services Trauma Rehabilitation Outcome (ADVANCE) Study is a comprehensive, prospective longitudinal cohort study focused on understanding the long-term effects of severe combat-related trauma on UK military personnel who served in the Afghanistan conflict. The study aims to assess a broad range of outcomes, such as cardiovascular and musculoskeletal diseases, mental health issues, functional and social outcomes, quality of life, employment status, and mortality rates among the participants. To achieve this, the study employs a variety of data collection methods, including self-report questionnaires and clinical assessments, to gather detailed information on the participants' health and well-being over time. The findings from the ADVANCE study are expected to provide valuable insights into the long-term rehabilitation needs and health outcomes of military personnel who have experienced severe trauma, potentially informing future healthcare strategies and support systems for veterans.
