The purpose of this study was to obtain an up-to-date picture of village services for comparison with the 1980 study. Variables Number and type of: post offices, shops, mobile shops and delivery services, professional services, garages, public facilities, recreational facilities, educational facilities, health services; number of shops which have closed down and number which have opened; details of transport facilities and main destinations; employment opportunities for men, women and school leavers.
