The objective of the research was to produce comprehensive and consistent national data on the provision of services in rural parishes within England and to monitor changes in service provision over time. Shops and other retail services; childcare and related facilities; schools; daycare for elderly and handicapped people; health care; places of worship; meeting places and recreational facilities; recreational activities; information services; public transport; public utilities; refuse collection and re-cycling; police and emergency services. This dataset includes individual data files for 1991 and 1994, and an additional file of combined 1991/1994 data for comparison between the earlier and later surveys.
