The purpose of this study was to provide information on how people consider increased public resources should be allocated between increases in government spending and/or reduced taxation. Attitudinal/Behavioural Questions Respondents were asked to distribute adhesive tokens representing increased public resources amongst marked columns on the questionnaire representing 10 expenditure categories and 8 taxing categories of government. Additional decisions on priorities within each of these categories were requested. Respondents were also asked for their preferences regarding alternative forms of financing of local authorities. Background Variables Information was obtained on respondents' sex, marital status, number of children, age, area of residence, type of residence, schooling and qualifications, occupation and household income group.
