The aim of this survey was to identify factors affecting age at retirement; to provide information on the financial provisions people make for their retirement and to give information which could be used in predicting the distribution of future pensioners' incomes. Two-thirds of the respondents from this survey were re-interviewed for a second wave of the survey in 1994 - the resulting dataset is held at the Archive under SN:4044. Current financial circumstances; occupational and private pensions; actual and expected age at retirement; pension and job histories since leaving continuous full-time education; disability. Measurement scales used Disability rating scales. These measures were first used for the OPCS Surveys of Disability, 1985.
