The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between interests and abilities among school leavers and to identify the relationships of these to subsequent academic achievements and to job choice and initial job satisfaction. Variables Occupational interests; cognitive abilities and general intelligence; personality (Eysenck Personality Inventory) SCE O-grade and Higher exam results; father's occupation; job desired on leaving school; first job entered on leaving school; further education courses entered.
