This survey collects data on the public awareness, behaviours and attitudes in relation to the department’s policy areas and is run four times a year. Data is collected through a push-to-web methodology. Questions on issues where attitudes are likely to shift quickly are repeated quarterly; other questions are asked annually with a few topics asked bi-annually. Between Autumn 2021 and Winter 2023 the survey was managed by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Following departmental restructuring, from Spring 2023 onwards it was managed by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). The questionnaire content reflects the policies of the respective departments although the Spring 2023 wave contained a small number of consumer questions from the BEIS survey that were not under DESNZ’s remit.
