To study social class distributions and their effects on marital movement in the City of Oxford from 1837 to 1970. The study also examines the effects of social mobility, and marriages between the social classes. Variables Parish number, year, grid reference of parish of groom and bride, grid reference of residence of groom and bride. Social class of groom, social class of bride, social class of groom's father and of bride's father. Age of groom and bride, intermarital status, precision of distance, marital status of groom, marital status of bride. Literacy of groom and of bride. Type of licence. Please note: this study does not include information on named individuals and would therefore not be useful for personal family history research.
