Over 50s Lifestyle Study - Great Britain

Over 50s Lifestyle Study - Great Britain

The Over 50s Lifestyle Study is a follow-up to the Opinions and Lifestyle Survey (OPN). This survey is based on adults aged 50 to 70 years in Great Britain (that consented to recontact from OPN or any subsequent ONS survey), specifically those who reported being out of work over the period January 2021 to January 2022. The primary aim of the survey is to provide insights on: * motivations for leaving, previous work history and current status? * barriers and motivations to return to work? * how and why behaviours have changed? * financial position, sustainability, spending and consumption patterns * demographics, characteristics and geography Wave 1 achieved a sample of 13,803 adults (71.6% response rate). Respondents aged 50 to 70 years in Great Britain agreed to take part in a follow up online survey between 8 to 13 February 2022 to tell us about their experiences and reasons for leaving the market and whether they have since returned. Wave 2 explores these reasons further for adults aged 50 to 65. Wave 2 achieved an increased sample of 23,490 adults (54.42% response rate) and included adults who had remained in work. Data were collected between 10 to 29 August 2022 and includes additional variables relating to the cost of living, well-being and people’s financial situation.
