The general aims of the study are to assess the impacts of Phase One of Metrolink, Manchester's Light Rail system on: (i) Various aspects of travel behaviour (especially choice of travel mode) and travel demand, and (ii) On changes in economic activity and land uses (such as retailing, offices, leisure facilities). Origin postcode; boarding station and time; waiting and travelling times; alighting station; destination postcode; access to and egress from stations; journey purpose and frequency; car availability and driving licence; rail ticket type; personal information: gender, age, employment status, social class; mode of travel used for equivalent journey in 1990 (B and C only); mode of transport to be used on the return journey (C only).
