Happier, Healthier Professionals: Symbolic Awards - England

This data is the data collected when conducting research upon an intervention project which facilitated the distribution of “symbolic awards” (specifically, video messages) that signal gratitude from beneficiaries of social workers’ work. The messages were from care-leavers, who described their experience with their social worker, and how this experience has positively impacted their lives. The research was to establish what effect receiving an edited video of such messages from care-leavers in their local authority service users had on rates of subjective wellbeing amongst social workers. The research took the form of a Randomised Control Trial (RCT). The processing involved the collection of quantitative data through survey measures delivered to social workers over the course of the 3-month RCT, and administrative data collected from the local authority at pre and post intervention.
