Happier, Healthier Professionals: Social Workers - England

Published by Office for National Statistics

Description

The data available is what was collected during an intervention project which facilitated the distribution of 8 weekly social support text messages (including content from more experienced social workers) sent to Year 2 Frontline social work students who were entering the social work workforce. The content of the messages contained words of advice and wisdom for social workers who are being employed by local authorities for the first time. The data collected was to establish what effect receiving a series of 8 weekly messages from Frontline fellows (past trainees and alumni of the Frontline training programme) and experienced social workers has on rates of subjective wellbeing amongst participants. The research took the form of a Randomised Control Trial (RCT). The processing involved the collection of quantitative data through survey measures delivered to social workers over the course of the 3-month RCT, and administrative data collected from Frontline at pre and post intervention.
