Experience of Industrial Tribunals/Dismissal, 1978
The aim of this study was to explore the experiences and perceptions of dismissed workers and their ex-employers who had been involved in an application for unfair dismissal to an industrial tribunal, whether or not the case was eventually heard by a tribunal. Variables Characteristics of parties; advice and representation, knowledge of and views about conciliation stage, the role of Acas and whether settlement was offered; details of Tribunal hearings, perceived effects of representation; role of Tribunal members, assessment of fairness; overall assessment of Tribunal system, cost and time involved effects on policy and practice.
