Capitalist Farmers in the Class Structure, 1974-1975
The aim of this project was to describe and analyse the changing position of East Anglian farmers and landowners in the rural class structure. For those employing labour this provided complementary data to that already collected from farm workers (SN: 963). Variables The data collected included sociographic data on the respondent's background, etc., size of farm business, entrepreneurial behaviour, political attitudes and behaviour, relationship to employees and local community, perceptions of rural change, etc. The study also examined the role of the 'farming interest' in local politics via a study of decision-making in Suffolk.
